Due to a bizarre EU ruling we’re not allowed to tell you that a couple of drops of citronella on the top of your sandals or on your clothing may keep mosquitoes away, but we can tell you that it also supposedly helps headaches and migraines, colds and fatigue when mixed with a base oil (such as sweet almond, olive or even vegetable!) and massaged into skin.
GTC says " this is one of the first items we pack when travelling. Most insect repellents contain DEET, which for those of us who are trying to reduce the amount of chemicals we put on our skin is an absolute no-no. As it's an oil it could theoretically damage fabrics etc., but we just dab it on the tops of our sandals and here and there and it seems to do the trick. And it'll make you smell wonderful!"
A note of caution; it may cause irritation if applied directly to the skin, so please take a look at the GTC Natural Remedies Section for more information.
May cause dermatitis or irritate on sensitive skin. May increase heart rate so use caution if high blood pressure is of any concern. Do not use if pregnant or nursing. Do not use neat on skin but mix with base oil first.
